MDD for cream formulation

For terbinafine‑containing cream formulations, the maximum daily dose (MDD) is not clearly defined.
If the MDD is calculated assuming that one full unit (one tube) is used per day, the resulting limit becomes unrealistically low.
In practice, it is unlikely that a patient would use one entire unit within a single day.
Therefore, is there an alternative approach to estimating the MDD for topical cream products?
A review of the ATC code and the dosing instructions in the SmPC does not provide a specific daily dose, and the product is only described as being applied once daily.
