MDD for Metformin

Hi Everyone,

I am new to this forum and the analysis of nitrosamines. I would appreciate it if someone shared the MDD they consider for metformin with me. At the moment I have come across 3 g but I am not very confident about it. Thank you.

dear Fiona
based on available information on posology for Glucophage, maximum dose of Metformin is 3000mg (monotherapy).
However, specific recommendations are given for special population.

If you intent to incorporate MDD for Metformin in acceptable intake limit calculations for a nitrosamine found in Metfo-mono product, I would recommend to go with the highest (ie 3000 mg).

On the other hand, for a combo product, eg for Sitagliptin Metformin, considering the MDD for Sitagliptin of 100mg, you are resulting in a MDD of 2000mg for Metformin.

Dear Fiona,
please be aware that MDDs can vary significantely based on the varying indications and the country/region where the drug product is marketed. Please ensure that you reference the SmPC for the specific drug product you wish to access.
